I worked for years with SCBWI to craft a good story and now with oral storytellers to craft the voice of a story. There is a book called How to Self-Publish and Market your book written by a husband and wife by the last name of Smith that has a lot of great information. Also, 1001 Ways to Market your book by John Kramer. He explains the whole industry. I would highly recommend reading them both if you want to publish your own book. Do your research to see what is right for you:)
Thanks for the invite! I did belong to SCBWI last year but I didn't renew my membership. It is a wonderful organization! I'm on a tight budget so I decided to pick one organization to join. I chose IBPA. It is for independent publishers so their information is very useful to me. I will probably join SCBWI again in the future.
If you ever have any questions about self-publishing, just ask. I am no expert but I can try to answer your questions:)
