Elysabeth Eldering is 45 years old and lives in a small town in upper South Carolina. She enjoys reading, cross stitch, crochet and writing. Her first story was written on a dare from a friend, but she found that she really enjoyed the creative outlet.

Her writing credits include "Train of Clues" (a shared second place winner on Armchair Interviews), "The Proposal" (an April Fool's Day contest shared second place winner on Armchair Interviews), and "The Tulip Kiss" (fast and frigid contest winner on Echelon Press) and "Butterfly Halves", a young adult fantasy, (the latter two were published by Echelon Press but are no longer available). Her most recent story, "Bride-and-Seek", was accepted and published in the SCWW anthology The Petigru Review and is available on amazon.com. She has an article on editing and self publishing to her credit, also published on Armchair Interviews.

The newest series to her writing accomplishment is the Junior Geography Detective Squad, coming from <a href="http://www.4rvpublishingllc.com">4RV Publishing</a> in the fall of 2008. Her stories will feature each state as a mystery destination with the kids guessing the state after being given clues and facts about each state.

Elysabeth was asked to create and edit a storyline for the Magazine of Unbelievable Stories (now defunct) with past issues still available through amazon.com. She has edited four novels and is in the process of starting her own editing service.

In 2007, Elysabeth volunteered to judge mid length stories submitted for the Derringers Awards. In 2008, she has volunteered again to judge for the Derringers, in the flash fiction category.

Mother of 3 children, she spends many weekends at marching band competitions. When she has free time from work, family and writing, she participates in several writing groups including Sisters in Crime and the South Carolina Writers Workshop, both in Greenville, SC.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and an update

Hey everyone,

Hope you remember to wear your green so you won't get pinched. Today is the luck of the Irish day. I usually wear green a lot so today won't be any different. I have sent the final version of story to Aidana and so now it should be in the hands of the publisher. I am officially on the excited level now as I have actually submitted my first state story.

I'd say I'm an editor by nature also. I have a natural feel for written language and I love critiquing. So when I saw what you do . . .

And . . . I'm in serious need of a new income source, thanks to my health. I can't continue the work I've done all these years so I'm trying to earn from home. I've thought of doing editing because I read soooo much and catch tons of mistakes in books! When I saw that you do editing I thought I'd ask!

Do you have any tips for me? I was an A+ student in english and writing in college but I didn't finish beyond Jr. year. So without knowing the ropes or having a degree, how would someone like me become established as an editor? By "hoops" I mean, what steps do I need to take. I'm completely and totally unknowledgeable about the publishing world, big or small. I'm a real amateur. But I think I'd be a heck of an editor.

And just so you know, I print greeting cards and 8x10 prints of just about any image on my website, and those are quite inexpensive. I also sell larger (~24x18) giclee prints of many paintings. Those are $200 each, but are about the same size as the original pieces, and are the best quality I can obtain. Archival inks on all rag, heavy paper, etc.
