Hello,

Just wanted to stop in and get your opinion on my latest cover design posted to my blog...

I would love your input.

Fraser, I think I have time now to think about widgets. I hope your generous offer is still available. BTW, another writer showed me the widgets on her website and I at least know what you're talking about. One thing I need: I've written a book about a lady in Omaha called Green Light Red Light. I'd like to install a video of her speaking to a group about her work in China, to go along with the book on the same subject. I think I need to use a camcorder that can make DVDs but how do I get it on my website? I hope you have the answer!

I'd also like to sell at least one ebook and maybe t-shirts. You know--to make some money on the side while I market the book.

I tried the URL and nothing came up. No widgets.

I'd like to know what kind of widgets that you're talking about since there are many widgets of all different shapes, sizes and colours and for many uses some of which are useful and some which are just plain decorative but I'm not planning on grabbing any widgets until I know a lot more about them.

Hi Audrey,

Thanks for expressing an interest and asking a very good question. Sometimes I don't realize how deeply involved I am in technology and forget that many terms aren't commonplace. Shame on me!

Let's start with a few examples:

If you go to this page you'll see some versions of a widget that I built for an author (make sure you click on the book cover to see the real benefit!)

http://www.adaptiveblue.com/demo/Authors/SuzanneLieurance.html

Think of a widget as a small gadget that can be "installed" onto a webpage. Visitors to the web page can interact with the widget in a dynamic way AND "grab" the widget to share it on their site.

For example, the author in the above example has installed one of the widgets onto her web page. You can see it here:

http://writingforchildrencenter.com/

(check out the right-hand side of the web page to see the widget)

There are a few things that individuals can do with our widgets:

* they can grab them and install them onto their own personal site, helping to market the books
* they can click on the book cover to explore it
* it provides the ability to buy it on a number of online stores
* they can save the book to a number of sites on the web

and more!

Hope that helps, let me know if anything is still confusing!

Fraser! Greetings! I'll confess upfront that I don't know what a widget is. Can you enlighten me? I need all the help I can get.
God bless you! Audrey Hebbert
