I'm ...
My artwork combines drawing, design, color and nature, with just a touch of whimsy. It’s the small, intimate details of nature that draw my eye. Nature provides such remarkable, even unbelievable creations that I prefer depicting actual species of plants and animals in my non-abstract pieces.

My art career began during high school when I painted needlepoint canvases for Elaine Magnin in San Francisco. After earning a degree in biology at UCSC, I began my own nation-wide business and sold needlepoint designs for over 12 years. Later, I switched to fine art and reveled in experimenting with many different styles and media.
I now work in watercolor, pastels, mixed media, beaded jewelry, and illustration.

Such a small world - I'm about an hour from Spartanburg. I think your letters will do well - There are plenty of publishers out there as well. I would encourage folks to check out Verla Kay's forums (http://www.verlakay.com/boards/index.php) to get some excellent help and guidance on where to take their stories and ideas. Good luck with getting out there - E :)

Hi Lucy, I am also 54, but I can be a six year old when it comes to wrting stories for children. I love to write. I am looking for an illustrator to help launch my career. The thing is, I don't know a thing about the market. Any tips? Aloha.

Thanks for the clarification, Aidana. Sounds like a great idea that's right in line with the evolving online marketing possibilites. So far, though, I am an artist and not a writer.

Best,
Lucy

Hi Lucy,

Well, Amazon has been selling shorts for some time now, short stories for $.50 per download.

A short is a small story or excert or chaper sold with the intention of tempting the buyer into buying your actual book that is in print or will be soon.

Now, am not sayng we do Amazon shorts (mainly because their submissions dept is closed right now), but to adopt their idea.

Many of us know how to save PDF files & layout/design books, so nothing is stopping us from selling our own right from this network.

If you are intersted just let me know & I'll help you figure out what you need to start selling e shorts.
