Elysabeth (I love that spelling by the way)

- I broke my own writing rules - I used "you" which sounds like a personal thing when I should have used "I", or "a person". As in "what hoops do I jump through to become . . ." I guess it came off like a rude joke. I wasn't thinking. I had no intention of offending?

I'd say I'm an editor by nature also. I have a natural feel for written language and I love critiquing. So when I saw what you do . . .

And . . . I'm in serious need of a new income source, thanks to my health. I can't continue the work I've done all these years so I'm trying to earn from home. I've thought of doing editing because I read soooo much and catch tons of mistakes in books! When I saw that you do editing I thought I'd ask!

Do you have any tips for me? I was an A+ student in english and writing in college but I didn't finish beyond Jr. year. So without knowing the ropes or having a degree, how would someone like me become established as an editor? By "hoops" I mean, what steps do I need to take. I'm completely and totally unknowledgeable about the publishing world, big or small. I'm a real amateur. But I think I'd be a heck of an editor.

Thanks!
Becky

I certainly appreciate your words of encouragement, Elysabeth. And just so you know, I print greeting cards and 8x10 prints of just about any image on my website, and those are quite inexpensive. I also sell larger (~24x18) giclee prints of many paintings. Those are $200 each, but are about the same size as the original pieces, and are the best quality I can obtain. Archival inks on all rag, heavy paper, etc.

My 12 year old reader loved Rock of Realm as I told you, and so did her younger brother. Perhaps when you are finished with that book, I will send you Mystery of the Crying Ghost...it is a series, the second one due out in the summer. Thanks!

Hi Elysabeth, and thank you for the invitation. Congratulations on your wonderful work doing so well!
I'm trying to get an alphabet book published, and it sure does take a lot of effort. It's based on my "Lucy's Letters" designs, which can be seen on my website here: http://www.lucyarnold.com/Lucy's%20letters.htm. I also just wanted to mention that my mother came from Spartanburg, SC.

Best to you,
Lucy

Good luck on your sales. I am praying that my stories get published this year, picked up by an agent/publisher. I do not want to go POD.
Blessings.

Hello Elysabeth :-)
Thank you so much for inviting me in as a friend! Your camps sound wonderful. Do you have any in Virginia? I'm exciting to have my dream come true with my children's novel, STAR published. I've just finished the screenplay and I hope to find a producer to option it. Wish me luck! Soft winds, Ayasta

Thanks for adding me to your friends, Elysabeth. I have a published book called Mystery of the Crying Ghost, for ages 8-12. Would you like to review it? I also have read Rock of Realm, and one of the children who reads for me read it and she loved it. I was not able to help her with publishing it at the time, since my publishing company is still brand new and I need another year or so before I can take on other authors. It's worth reading, however, and I hope she does well.

Hey E, nice to see you here, too. I find the more places on the net, the more exposure. Yeah, more work for us but that's the life of a writer if you want to get anywhere.
